Near Udaipur our tour bus stopped for a short break. The place was decent and we had warm lunch and clean bottled water. The sign on the outside caught my attention right away.

"Punjabi, Snakes, Chinese, special Gujarati Thali, Jain Food."
Wait, did I just read "Snakes?" This is a pure vegetarian restaurant! How can they serve snakes? No. Something is wrong.
Clearly we'd caught the perfect example of a signage typo. The intention was apparently something different. My brother in-law guessed "shakes" and I guessed "snacks." Given the close association between snack and snake in the Gujarati dialect, I could see that the intention was definitely "snacks."
I didn't try them but I am sure that the "snakes" at the restaurant were tasty! :)

Lol...I wonder if they did eat snakes. You have a nice blog Jahnvee. Hope you could also drop in on us at http://www.foodista.com/blog
